Level Pressure and Barometric Switches

Ashridge Engineering manufacture a range of level, pressure and barometric switches which are used extensively for high reliability missile and defence safety systems.

Spearfish is a submarine-launched, heavyweight torpedo (HWT) for use against both surface and submarine targets. It is powered by an open-cycle, bi-propellant gas turbine engine, which provides the weapon with a high sprint speed, a deep-diving capability and high endurance. It is provided with a copper wire command data link to the launch platform but has an inherent capability to operate autonomously. Ashridge Engineering provide a sensitive under water switch which prevents the device from detonation out of water. This is particularly important for storage and training exercises where the warhead may have been removed.

Marconi ARI5979 Sea Spray Mk 1 lightweight search and tracking radar, for detecting small surface targets in low-visibility/high-sea conditions is used extensively in the Lynx helicopter range. Each system is fitted with a safety critical barometric switch designed and manufactured by Ashridge Engineering to the requirements of the client design team.
